Difference Between Attitude & Behavior Update

Attitude & Behavior

Attitudes:

An attitude is 'a learned emotional and behavioral response to a stimulus or situation. Attitudes are formed through:
ü  Experiences - either pleasant or unpleasant
ü  Attitudes of the people around us.
Attitude is how we feel about our self, our goals, and our ambitions. Attitude is the emotional journey. We can control our own lives through our mindset, and our thoughts. Practicing maintaining a positive attitude is helpful in creating the life you want. But “positive thinking” isn't all there is to it.

Behavior:

Behavior is external expression of attitude. Behavior is the other side of the coin. Where our attitude may set the direction and the intention, our behavior is what propels us forward, even if it's one baby step at a time. We find it helpful to determine what behaviors we can do daily/weekly/monthly to keep us moving toward our goals.

Changing Attitudes:

To get an individual to change their attitude about something, they must be persuaded. The ability to persuade someone to change their attitude is dependant on three factors:
ü  Status of the persuader - Someone of high status who is knowledgeable and genuine is likely to be successful.
ü  Clarity of the message - A clear, concise and accurate argument should be put forward
ü  Ability to understand the message - The individual being persuaded must be capable of understanding the message.
Many measurements and scales are used to examine attitudes. Attitudes can be difficult to measure because measurement is arbitrary, meaning people have to give attitudes a scale to measure it against, and attitudes are ultimately a hypothetical construct that can be observed directly.

Example:

For example, psychopaths are people whose attitudes are composed of low morality. However, this does not mean that they always commit immoral acts. Psychopaths are usually intelligent, so they know that even though there will be no moral consequences for them, there will still be legal consequences to deal with. This knowledge, in addition to their attitude, governs their behavior
